Short answerUp to about €3,000 buys a new look on your units. €4,500 to €10,000 buys a budget fitted kitchen, €9,000 to €20,000 a mid-range one. Bespoke starts around €13,500.
Five budgets, and what each one buys
Up to about €3,000: A new look on the units you have
A respray: €700 to €1,000 for a small kitchen, up to €2,000 to €4,500 for a big one with an island. New doors from €48 each. A laminate worktop at €50 to €100 a metre.
About €1,350 to €5,000: New doors, drawer fronts and a worktop
On the units you have. A quartz worktop starts around €2,200 fitted for a standard kitchen, so stone takes you to the top of this band.
About €4,500 to €10,000: A budget or flat-pack kitchen, fitted
Same layout, so no plumbing moves. The doors and worktop you choose make most of the difference.
About €9,000 to €20,000: A mid-range kitchen, and room to move things
Most people spend €10,000 to €15,000. A typical family kitchen with a quartz worktop is €15,000 to €25,000 with VAT.
€13,500 and up: High specification or bespoke
Hand-made or made-to-measure joinery, stone worktops and premium appliances, up to €35,000 and beyond. Add €2,000 to €5,000 for an island.
Where the money goes
In a mid-range kitchen: €5,000 to €10,000 for the cabinets, €1,500 to €4,000 for worktops, €3,000 to €6,000 for appliances, €2,500 to €4,000 for fitting and €1,000 to €3,000 for tiling, plumbing and electrics. The cabinets are the biggest share, which is why keeping them and changing what's on the front saves most.

Questions people ask
How can I redesign my kitchen on a budget?
Keep the units and the layout, and change the fronts: a respray from €700 to €1,000 for a small kitchen, or new doors and a worktop from €1,350.
What's a realistic budget for a new kitchen in Ireland?
Most people spend €10,000 to €15,000. A typical family kitchen with a quartz worktop is €15,000 to €25,000 with VAT.
Do these prices include VAT?
Treat them as a guide and ask for VAT to be shown on the written price. The family-kitchen figure of €15,000 to €25,000 includes it.
Who will ring me?
One kitchen fitter who covers your area. Your number isn't sent to a list. They ring you within one working day, ask about the room and what you want to change, and arrange to measure it before giving you a written price. Nothing is booked until you say yes.
