Will new doors fit my units?
Most Irish kitchens use standard carcass widths, and made-to-measure doors are cut to the old door sizes. Measure every door and drawer front, note the hinge positions, and check the hinges themselves: old or cheap hinges are worth replacing with the doors.
Doors, or a respray?
New doors change the style: plain to shaker, or shaker to handleless. A respray keeps the style and changes the colour. If you like the shape of your doors, respray them. If you don't, replace them. Respray or new doors sets the two side by side.
Finish it properly
- New plinths and end panels to match, or the old ones give it away.
- One handle finish throughout.
- Cornice and light pelmets if the old doors had them.
